At one point or another, I think every little girl dreamed about being a ballerina when she grew up. Enrolled in dance classes from the time when I was six, I know I definitely did. While my career aspirations have changed a little since then, I'm still borrowing pieces from a dancer's wardrobe.
As a lover of all things fashion, I'm definitely not one to shy away from wearing items that can be considered a little different. A tutu is definitely one of these included. I have a tendency to always be overdressed for anything that I do, but I've learned that you can tone down an item's fanciness by pairing it with a few wardrobe basics, like a simple tee, V-neck or chambray shirt. Plus, according to Oscar Wilde, "You can never be overdressed or overeducated."
I don't like to discriminate or play favorites, so the dressier items in my closet get just as much action as everything else simply by using this little trick. So don't be afraid to have a Carrie Bradshaw moment of your own! And for those of you wondering, no, this isn't the only ballerina skirt in my closet... ;)
